From Delhi to Toronto
27 Years in the Making
A teenage Neeraj steps behind a modest shop counter in Delhi's legendary jewellery district, arranging stones, reading a loupe, learning the discipline of precision that no classroom could teach.
Armed with an IGI certification, Neeraj masters the "four Cs" and opens a small retail shop on 23 February 2003 in a bustling Delhi mall, built on ethically sourced gems and transparent pricing.
A bold journey to the DRC, the raw nerve centre of the diamond supply chain. Neeraj negotiates with miners and site operators, gaining transformative insight into ethical sourcing and supply-chain integrity.
Gopal Gems enters the US market at JCK Las Vegas and the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show. Transparency becomes the competitive edge, expanding to Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Neeraj's first Toronto visit in 2014 had felt unexpectedly like home. In early 2020, he relocates his family through a 20-day odyssey of cancelled flights and closed borders, knowing Canada was where he belonged.

Neeraj's story begins not in a boardroom, but behind a shop counter in Delhi's legendary jewellery district in 1999, a curious teenager arranging stones, learning how to read a loupe, and discovering that every gem carries a story. By 2002, he earned his IGI certification and opened his first retail shop, built on a simple, radical idea: show clients exactly where every stone comes from.
In 2009, he went further than most would dare, travelling to the mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo to understand every link in the diamond supply chain firsthand. That commitment to traceability became the foundation of Gopal Gems, which grew into one of Canada's most trusted diamond suppliers, operating across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
When Neeraj first visited Toronto in 2014, it felt unexpectedly like home. He made it official in 2020, and in 2022 founded Kleodora Diamonds, bringing the full weight of his expertise, his global connections, and his passion for personal storytelling into a studio built entirely around you. Today, Canadian Jeweller Magazine calls it exactly what it is: a dream worth believing in.
